I just called Tivo about activating a Mini unit and the rep told me since I was a long time customer they could offer me the following deal:

This is a new Lifetime not a transfer from a older unit, so your old Tivo with lifetime can be sold off to recoup some of the cost. Also this was a customer service rep I called at Tivo not online !!
