Preceded by the only “In Between Days” which had reached #15 on the UK singles chart, The Head on the Door was described by Melody Maker as “a set of pop songs”. With it is number of kinds, it allowed the group to achieve a wider viewers in each Europe and North America. In the United Kingdom, it rapidly grew to become their most profitable album up to now, climbing to #7 on the albums chart. The album is the primary to function drummer Boris Williams. Bassist Simon Gallup, who had beforehand labored on three main Cure albums of the early 80’s, was referred to as again earlier than the recording. In 1985, the band grew to become a quintet with instrumentalist Porl Thompson as fifth official member.
